DÍA DE LA INDEPENDENCIA/ INDEPENDENCE DAY
El levantamiento del 2 de mayo de 1808 es el nombre por el que se conocen los hechos acontecidos ese año en la ciudad española de Madrid, producidos por la protesta popular ante la situación de incertidumbre política derivada tras el motín de Aranjuez. Posteriormente a que se reprimiera la protesta por las fuerzas napoleónicas presentes en la ciudad, por todo el país se extendió una ola de proclamas de indignación y llamamientos públicos a la insurrección armada que desembocarían en la guerra de la independencia española.
